Grotto falls

Hyalite Canyon is one of Bozeman's crown jewels, and Grotto Falls is its most approachable reward. The trail winds through mature evergreen forest along Middle Cottonwood Creek, flat enough for almost anyone and wide enough to walk side by side. At the end, Hyalite Creek pours over the falls into a series of pools perfect for wading on a hot summer afternoon. There is a picnic table and bench near the falls, making this one of those rare spots where you could genuinely spend an entire afternoon without needing to go anywhere else. It is a great introductory hike for people new to Montana, but locals keep coming back too because sometimes simple and beautiful is exactly what you need.
