Trail Description:
If your dog has a vote in where you hike, they will always pick Middle Cottonwood. This trail meanders through lush, shaded forest along a creek that stays accessible most of the way, meaning a reliably happy and hydrated hiking companion from start to finish. You will cross the creek several times on bridges, logs, and rock hops, which adds a little adventure without adding difficulty. The trail connects to the Bridger Foothills Trail at about a mile, opening up longer options toward Baldy Mountain or south toward the M for those who want to make a bigger day of it. For most people the popular turnaround at the ridge on Baldy's west side is a satisfying destination on its own. This is a great trail for families, for an easy weekday hike, or for anyone who wants to feel like they are deep in the Bridgers without a major commitment.
